*Now that I'm in the second book, I realised how terrible the first book have been. So I lowered the rating because if you finish this book, you're a hero. This book is full of deception. I might as well tell you from the start this review would be exploding with spoilers. My comments: It was okay. |
A princess must find her place in a reborn world.
She flees on her wedding day.
She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor's secret collection.
She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father.
She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan.
The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can't abide. Like having to marry someone she's never met to secure a political alliance.
Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

#1 Assassin: This was the guy who swore to be merciless. Thiswas the assassin who killed many with a simple slice across the throat. Yet, this was the assassin who let a million chances to kill Lia slip by. I'm really curious. Has this dude killed a girl before? Like you know someone with 2 X chromosomes? I'm not even begging for Lia to be killed, I simply want an assassin who plots how to make a clean kill instead of battling his inner emotions over the girl he was supposed to kill. This is probably the worst case of love at first sight for an assassin. The need to highlightassassin is pretty much essential. I could even close my eyes and manage to pick a guy from the fantasy genre who has muscles and can fight - exactly like him - and he might not even be an assassin. To summarize Kaden: You had one bloody job.
#2 Running away:Looking back, is running away really the best solution for all the problems? I supposed as a princess she ought to have thought through thoroughly before carrying out something that risky. Lia had gotten all the consequences that concerns her covered, well what we are speaking of is the implications that doesn't concern her she do not give two craps about until it's too late. After all carrying laundry around for a few months and living this oh so exciting life as a maiden she has always wanted .Oops maybe I should head back and sacrifice myself for the well being of everyone. I shit you not.
The love triangle was just OKAY although one err from this triangle would cause me to just toss the book out of the window. Here's a summary of an err: choosing Kaden. Let's briefly recap what Kaden did: wanted to kill Lia in her sleep, led her on, kidnapped her, continued being an ass, blow his top over little things, expect Lia to act like a docile dog, brought her to Vendan where she would obviously be tortured to death, tell Lia loyalty comes before her pathetic life, quite related to the murder of Greta, let Walther be torn apart before Lia's eyes. Let's just say his loyalty comes before any freaking concern. If this was love, we should start weeping for humanity. Remind me why are they friends even.

Everyone was just delusional and if this was fantasy oh dear book gods, help us please. I assure you the swapping of saliva was way more significant than whatever gift she held. Forgive me for not taking note of the title. I will ensure I take titles deeply into account next time.
